1
GNU Radio Installation and Operations

A practical introduction to GNU Radio — from installation and environment setup through to building and running your first flowgraphs. Covers the GNU Radio Companion (GRC) visual editor, key signal-processing blocks, working with real hardware (RTL-SDR, HackRF, USRP), and enough operational context to continue learning independently after the session. Suitable for newcomers and those who have used GNU Radio informally and want a solid foundation.

2
Introduction to the Masters of Electronic Warfare

An overview of Flinders University’s postgraduate Electronic Warfare programs delivered through PEWTER — the only NV1-gated EW curriculum in Australia. This session covers the structure of the Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, and Masters of Electronic Warfare; the cleared cohort pathway; curriculum content spanning spectrum operations, radar, SIGINT, jamming, and counter-EW; and how SDR underpins teaching across all three qualification levels. Open to anyone considering postgraduate study, defence-industry professionals exploring professional development, and organisations interested in building sovereign EW capability through education.

3
Amateur Radio Training and Licence Examination

A structured preparation session covering the theory and regulations required for the Australian Foundation Amateur Radio Licence, followed by a formal sit-down examination. Participants who pass will be eligible to apply for their licence through the Wireless Institute of Australia (WIA). Licensing opens access to transmit across a wide range of HF, VHF, and UHF bands — a significant enabler for SDR experimentation, radio astronomy, direction finding, and propagation research. No prior radio experience is required; the session is self-contained.
